Gothic Novels

I believe action is most effective in Gothic novels to create horror and mystery. Actions that people take can create horrible consequences, which can cause horror. People can also have secretive actions, such as not telling other people what they have done, which will cause mystery for what will happen later in the novel. In Frankenstein, I believe Victor abandoning the monster in his apartment creates mystery and horror. When Victor leaves his apartment and eventually comes back, the monster is gone and he has no idea where he went. I think this causes readers to become mysterious of where the monster has gone or will go. I also believe leaving the monster creates horror because Victor nor readers know what exactly the monster is capable of, so readers might believe he will kill or harm someone. I do not think Victor should of left the monster, especially since it is what he wanted to create, but then there would not of been as much horror and mystery like when he did.
